Ayodhya, August 5:<\/strong> Centuries-long wait over today, PM Modi after laying the foundation stone for Ram Janmabhoomi Temple<\/p>\n

Chanting \u2018Jay Siya Ram<\/strong>\u201d Prime Minister Narendra Modi<\/a><\/span><\/span> laid the foundation stone for the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya on Wednesday. Thereafter he performed the \u2018Bhumi Poojan<\/strong>\u2019, prostrated (Shashtang Pranam) at the Ram Temple site. Joining him at the ceremony were the Uttar Pradesh governor Anandiben Patel and RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat.<\/p>\n

\"Ram<\/a><\/p>\n

This will mark the beginning of the construction of the Ram Janmabhoomi<\/a><\/span><\/span> Temple<\/span> after the verdict of the apex court on the decades-long legal battle over the demolition of the Babri Masjid housed at the disputed site was in favour of the construction of the Temple. The Babri Mosque had been razed to the ground in 1992 by\u00a0 \u2018kar sevaks<\/strong>\u2019 in the presence of prominent leaders of Shiv Sena, BJP and VHP.<\/p>\n

Addressing the nation after the completion of the foundation stone laying ceremony, PM Modi said, \u201cCenturies-long wait over today. India is deeply emotional today. After decades of struggle, Ram Janmabhoomi is freed today. A billion dreams have been realised today as India witnessed a historic event.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Ram<\/a><\/p>\n

The Prime Minister had left for Ayodhya early in the morning. On reaching Ayodhya via helicopter, he was greeted the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He offered his prayers at the Hanuman Garhi temple before heading for the Bhumi Puja. He then planted the sapling of Parijat which is considered to be a heavenly plant before the actual ceremony began.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
