Guwahati, Aug 11:<\/strong> The All Assam Students\u2019 Union<\/a><\/span><\/span> (AASU) on Tuesday released the confidential report of the high-level committee constituted by the centre on Clause 6 of Assam Accord and saying that the people of the state have the right to know the contents of the report.<\/p>\n

Addressing a press conference held in Guwahati, the AASU leaders \u2013 which was a part of the high-level committee said that, the people of Assam have the right to know what the suggestions were given by the committee to the government<\/a> <\/span>for implementation of Clause 6 of Assam Accord.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has more than five months since we submitted the report to the government, but the government is yet to take action. The committee headed by Retd. Justice Biplab Kumar Sarma had submitted the report to the Assam Chief Minister on February 25, but there is no simple action taken by the government. The people of the state want to know about it<\/strong>,\u201d AASU president Dipankar Nath said.<\/p>\n

The committee had suggested the government that, how to protect the indigenous people of the state by implementing the Clause 6 of the Assam Accord.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe met Union Home minister Amit Shah before submission of the report and he assured us to implement the committee\u2019s suggestions by letter on the spirit. Five months have gone, but no simply action has taken by the government<\/strong>,\u201d Dipanka Nath said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t know where the report is. Is it in the almirah of the Assam Chief Minister or somewhere? The committee has suggested reservation of 80-100 per cent in parliament seats from the state and creation of an upper house in the state<\/strong>,\u201d Dipanka Nath said.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, AASU advisor Dr Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya said that the committee has given various suggestions to the government and also asked the government for prompt measures to completely seal the Indo-Bangladesh<\/a><\/span><\/span> border.<\/p>\n
