{"id":4312,"date":"2020-09-18T15:37:08","date_gmt":"2020-09-18T10:07:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nerising.in\/?p=4312"},"modified":"2020-09-18T15:37:08","modified_gmt":"2020-09-18T10:07:08","slug":"man-beat-up-for-selling-beef-assam-government-to-pay-1-lakh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northeastrising.in\/test\/man-beat-up-for-selling-beef-assam-government-to-pay-1-lakh\/","title":{"rendered":"Man beat up for selling beef, Assam Government to pay 1 Lakh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"auto\"><strong>Assam, September 18:<\/strong> The National Human Rights Commission (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600; text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/nhrc.nic.in\/\">NHRC<\/a><\/span><\/span>) has ordered the Assam government to pay Rs.1 lakh to a person, who was beaten up by a mob for selling cooked beef at his tea stall in the Biswanath district.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">The commission also took a serious note of the fact that neither the Chief Secretary replied to a slow-cause notice nor the Director-General of Police submitted the action taken report against the guilty police official in the case.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">Shaukat Ali a 48-years-old man was thrashed by a mob and forced to eat cooked pork in front of a few policemen for selling beef at his tea stall at the Madhupur weekly market in Biswanath Chariali on April 7 last year.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">A contactor of the market was also allegedly beaten up for allowing Ali to run the shop.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">Consumption of beef id legal in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600; text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/nerising.in\/illegal-trade-of-turtle-meat-was-found-in-dhubri-assam\/\">Assam<\/a><\/span><\/span> and the Assam Cattle above 14 years of age with a\u00a0 proper certificate only by a veterinary officer if the area.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Man Attacked by Mob in Assam For Allegedly Selling Beef | The Quint\" width=\"696\" height=\"522\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/aKUaoGg3fDA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">The victim was found insulted and disgraced on the basis of caste\/religion, therefore, human rights of the victim were violated by collecting revenue by public servant i.e. profession tac collector illegally. Police have apprehended 15 persons and forwarded them to judicial custody.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">The incident has come to light only after a video made by one of the perpetrators went viral in social media.
