Guwahati, 29th October:<\/strong> Assam police<\/a><\/span> had arrested the topper of the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) in Assam, his father and three others for allegedly using a proxy candidate to write JEE (Mains) entrance examination in Guwahati in September.<\/p>\n

The son of the doctor achieved top rank from Assam in the entrance examination with a score of 99.8 per cent without sitting for the examination.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The arrested persons were identified as Dr Jyotirmoy Das, his son Neel Nakshatra Das, Hamendra Nath Sarma, Pranjal Kalita and Hirukamal Pathak.<\/p>\n

According to the reports, a person named Mitradev Sharma \u2013 a resident of Mathura Nagar in Guwahati had recently lodged a complaint at Azara police station<\/a><\/span><\/span> under Guwahati city police against the topper of JEE (Mains) examination from Assam and police started investigation.<\/p>\n

In connection with a case (no \u2013 624\/2020) has been registered at Azara police station under sections 120(B)\/419\/420\/406 of IPC and R\/W 66D of IT Act.<\/p>\n

Rajib Saikia, CPRO of Assam police said that, police on Wednesday had arrested five persons in connection with the case.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Guwahati city police Commissioner Munna Prasad Gupta said that, the candidate used a proxy candidate to write examination through the help of another agency.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur investigation is on and staffers of the examination centre might also be involved with it. We are searching to nab all persons who involved with it<\/strong>,\u201d the top cop said.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the complainant alleged that the father of the candidate had paid a huge sum of money for this purpose.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
