Assam Student Raped, Dec 18:<\/strong> A 19-year-old nursing student from Assam allegedly raped and killed in Bengaluru. Police have arrested a 22-year-old youth in connection with the rape and murder of a student from Assam\u2019s Barpeta district<\/a><\/span><\/span> in Bengaluru.<\/p>\n

The girl recently joined East West College in Bengaluru for a course in nursing and her family said that her admission was done through Anisur Rahman. Anisur is also a student at the same college and is from lower Assam\u2019s Goalpara district.<\/p>\n

Based on a complaint registered at Byadarahalli police station in Bengaluru, Anisur was arrested. The first information report (FIR) registered against Anisur mentions charges of rape and murder, reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnisur is reportedly a friend of her brother. He helped her with the admission too. On Wednesday, the victim went to the accused residence and later was found in a pool of blood by locals<\/strong>,\u201d police sources added.<\/p>\n

The victim was brought dead to Anupama Hospital in Yelahanka in Bengaluru on Wednesday by Anisur. According to the police complaint, Anisur alerted his neighbours that his girlfriend was unconscious on Wednesday morning around 10:30 am.<\/p>\n

The victim reportedly arrived in Bengaluru on December 14 and contacted Anisur two days later on Wednesday asking for help to encash a cheque of Rs 1.5 lakh. Police said preliminary investigations suggested that the victim was raped and murdered.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will know more after the post-mortem is completed. One of the accused \u2013 Anisur Rahman \u2013 is arrested and the preliminary investigation suggests a case of rape and murder<\/strong>,\u201d New Minute quoted the police officer as saying.<\/p>\n

Police said Anisur claimed that the victim started bleeding and fell unconscious when they were having consensual sex. However, police are waiting for the post-mortem report to shed more light on this.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have not found any struggle marks on the body but we can confirm only after the post-mortem report is submitted<\/strong>,\u201d said another police official.<\/p>\n

Assam\u2019s Society of Bangalore has demanded stringent punishment to the culprit. \u201cWe demand the death penalty for the accused<\/strong>,\u201d said Hirak Jyoti Kakati, general secretary of the Assam Society of Bangalore<\/a><\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n
