Assam, Jan 22: <\/strong>For the first time in the country, 190 polling booths in 12 Assam districts have been identified as vulnerable to illicit IMFL and country liquor, which can in a way influence the voters, ahead of the coming assembly<\/a> <\/span><\/span>polls in the state.<\/p>\n

The EC routinely classifies polling stations as \u201csensitive\u201d and \u201chypersensitive\u201d based on the extent of their vulnerability to violence.<\/p>\n

The state excises department, which has come up with this unique move, has deployed its men at strategic locations to keep an eye on the movement of illicit liquor on the lines of EC\u2019s expenditure and law and order observers.<\/p>\n

The majority of these polling booths are located in seven districts \u2014 Sivasagar<\/a><\/span><\/span>, Tinsukia, Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, Biswanath, Dibrugarh, and Dhemaji bordering Arunachal Pradesh.<\/p>\n

The rest are in other districts bordering Meghalaya and Nagaland and Dhubri district bordering West Bengal. Jorhat and Golaghat districts have been identified as vulnerable from illicit country liquor (sulai) point of view.<\/p>\n
