{"id":8838,"date":"2021-02-13T14:38:25","date_gmt":"2021-02-13T09:08:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nerising.in\/?p=8838"},"modified":"2021-02-13T15:14:06","modified_gmt":"2021-02-13T09:44:06","slug":"manipur-3-kidnapped-workers-rescued-from-clutches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northeastrising.in\/test\/manipur-3-kidnapped-workers-rescued-from-clutches\/","title":{"rendered":"Manipur: 3 Kidnapped workers rescued from clutches"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Manipur, Feb 13:<\/strong> Manipur Police commandos today rescued three workers kidnapped by militants after a fierce gun battle in Imphal East district, the police said.<\/p>\n<p>The three rescued workers have been identified Yumnam Sushilkumar alias Nanao (30), Laishram Debchandra Singh (50) and Ngangbam Gunadhar (55).<\/p>\n<p>Manipur Police said they were kidnapped by the suspected KNLA militants on February 7. The police commandos launched a rescue operation after a complaint was lodged at the Thoubal Dam Police Station yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>They have been engaged in the construction of a bridge at Laikhong village near Nongpok Keithelmanbi under the PMGSY scheme.<\/p>\n<p>Cadres of the <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kuki_National_Army\">Kuki National Liberation Army<\/a><\/span> (KNLA) are suspected to have been behind the abduction.<\/p>\n<p>The workers were rescued unharmed from a hill range between Boljang and New Boljang villages under the Thoubal Dam Police Station after the encounter that lasted nearly two hours.<\/p>\n<p>There was no report of casualty on either side in the exchange of fire between the police and the abductors.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Also Read<\/span>:<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000080;\"><a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/nerising.in\/3-npcc-workers-abducted-from-indo-bangla-border-return-home-in-tripura\/\">3 NPCC workers abducted from Indo-Bangla border return home in Tripura<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Quoting the rescued labourers, the police said that they were kidnapped from the makeshift camp where they were staying, for ransom.<\/p>\n<p>One AK-56 assault rifle was recovered at the end of the rescue operation, the police said.<\/p>\n<p>Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh rewarded Rs 10 lakh to the Imphal East Police for rescuing three workers from the clutches of suspected militants on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Biren Singh also announced that commendation certificates would be given to all the police personnel and officers who took part in the day\u2019s operation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Manipur, Feb 13: Manipur Police commandos today rescued three workers kidnapped by militants after a fierce gun battle in Imphal East district, the police said.
