Assam, Feb 15:<\/strong> A young woman suffered burn injuries in an alleged acid attack while she was returning home on her bicycle in Assam’s Dibrugarh town on the night of Valentine’s day.<\/p>\n

As per sources, a 33-year-old woman from Jaypore in Naharkatia who lives with her sister in Dibrugarh was returning from her workplace Sohum Shoppe \u2013 a mall in the centre of the town when the incident occurred at a neighbourhood area called Mirzabag under Amolapatty Police outpost.<\/p>\n

The accused, Buddhadev Das<\/a><\/span>, a father of two has been arrested by the police.<\/p>\n

“During investigation it has been learnt that the accused waylaid the victim outside a bakery shop, where he used to work, and fled after throwing acid on her<\/strong>,” Sonowal said, adding, “The accused was later arrested near his residence, a few kilometres away from his house in Shantipara area in the town<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

The survivor has sustained grave injuries especially on the left side of her face. She is currently undergoing treatment in Assam Medical College and Hospital and is in a critical condition.<\/p>\n
