{"id":9111,"date":"2021-02-24T12:35:47","date_gmt":"2021-02-24T07:05:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nerising.in\/?p=9111"},"modified":"2021-02-24T15:46:55","modified_gmt":"2021-02-24T10:16:55","slug":"over-1000-militants-of-5-outfits-surrender-in-assam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northeastrising.in\/test\/over-1000-militants-of-5-outfits-surrender-in-assam\/","title":{"rendered":"Over 1000 militants of 5 outfits surrender in Assam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Assam, Feb 24:<\/strong> Dreaded militant Ingti Kathar Songbijit and 1,039 other militants belonging to five outfits laid down arms before Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to return to the mainstream.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The militants belong to the People&#8217;s Democratic Council of Karbi Longri (PDCK), Karbi Longri NC Hills Liberation Front (KLNLF), Karbi People&#8217;s Liberation Tiger (KPLT), Kuki Liberation Front (KLF), and <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/People%27s_Liberation_Army\">United Peoples Liberation Army<\/a><\/span> (UPLA).<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Songbijit is the chief of PDCK. He was earlier the commander-in-chief of the banned National Democratic Front of Boroland.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He was involved in several incidents of massacres, most of the people from minority communities, in the erstwhile Bodoland Territorial Area Districts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Songbijit was sidelined after the Ranjan Daimary faction of NDFB suspended operations. He later formed the PDCK in the Karbi Anglong district.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Welcoming the 1,040 militants surrendered from Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts into the mainstream, Sonowal said his government is working to make Assam a terror-free state.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;<strong>We are giving all possible support to the youths coming back to the society. We are giving financial help as well as logistic support.
