Jhanjharpur

New Delhi, Sept 06: As the nation’s political landscape begins to stir in anticipation of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to embark on a significant visit to Jhanjharpur in Bihar’s Madhubani district on September 16. This visit falls under the ‘Lok Sabha Pravas’ Programme, a strategic move to connect with the electorate ahead of the upcoming elections and showcase the achievements of the Narendra Modi-led government during its nine-year tenure.

A senior leader from the Bihar Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) revealed that Amit Shah’s visit to Bihar is scheduled for September 16. During this visit, he is expected to address substantial public gatherings in Jhanjharpur, engaging with the local population and highlighting the government’s accomplishments. The visit will also include a meeting of the Lok Sabha Core Committee, potentially attended by prominent Bihar BJP figures, including State BJP President Samrat Choudhary and Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai.

Moreover, Amit Shah is set to inaugurate the Integrated Check Post (ICP) on the Indo-Nepal border at Jogbani during his Bihar trip. This move emphasizes the government’s commitment to strengthening border security and facilitating smoother cross-border trade and movement.

In another significant development, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will remotely inaugurate the SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal) battalion headquarters, located 8 km from Jogbani. This underscores the government’s dedication to bolstering security infrastructure along India’s borders.

It is noteworthy that Nitish Kumar’s Janta Dal United (JDU) parted ways with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar in August 2022 and joined the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan). Since then, Nitish Kumar has been actively involved in uniting opposition parties against the Narendra Modi government at the central level.

This upcoming visit will mark Amit Shah’s sixth trip to Bihar within a year, signifying the state’s political significance. He has been making concerted efforts to reconnect with the people of Bihar since the BJP lost power in the state in August 2022.

In his previous visits, Amit Shah has addressed key regions and communities. For instance, he visited Punia, considered the capital of the Seemanchal region, and later went to Sitab Diara, the birthplace of socialist veteran Jayaprakash Narayan.

In February this year, he visited Valmakinagar and Patna, where he addressed the Kisan Samagam organized on the birth anniversary of peasant leader Sahajanand Saraswati. In April 2023, he addressed a public meeting in Nawada, with a subsequent cancellation of the Rohtas (Sasaram) program due to violence in the area.

During his last visit to Bihar on June 29, Amit Shah conducted a mega-rally in Lakhisarai, which falls under the Munger Lok Sabha constituency, JDU President Nitish Kumar’s home turf. This visit is a testament to the BJP’s continued efforts to consolidate support and build a strong presence in Bihar ahead of the crucial 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Amit Shah’s visit to Jhanjharpur and his extensive political engagement in Bihar underscore the state’s significance in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. It reflects the BJP’s determination to connect with voters, showcase achievements, and strengthen its political foothold in this crucial region of India.
