Guwahati, March 11: The Assam government, in its weekly cabinet meeting held on March 10, announced a significant allocation of Rs 131 crore for the beautification of the historic Rang Ghar in Sivasagar.

As part of this beautification project, a site has been proposed at Rupohi Pathar, on the northwestern side of Rang Ghar, covering a plot of land measuring 83 bighas 2 Katha.

Among the various decisions made during the cabinet meeting, the government has also extended a range of incentives to TATA’s semiconductor facility.

This move follows the approval of the semiconductor unit in Assam by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India.

The Industries, Commerce, and Public Enterprises Department have been authorized to facilitate all payments as per the eligibility of the units under the policy.

In a bid to preserve, protect, and promote the linguistic identity of Manipuris, the government has proposed the introduction of the Meitei script in educational institutions across the state.

This initiative aims to allow interested students to study Manipuri literature and pursue higher education in Manipuri using the Meitei/Mayek script.

Furthermore, it will facilitate candidates from Assam to apply for jobs in Manipur that require mandatory knowledge of Meitei/Mayek.

In a significant boost to the sports sector, the state government has approved Rs 380.66 crore for the construction of an open stadium at the Amingaon Sports Complex in Kamrup.

The stadium will boast state-of-the-art facilities, including a cricket stadium with a seating capacity of 20,000 spectators.

Additionally, it will provide accommodations for international and national coaches, as well as hostel facilities for male and female players.

These decisions underscore the government’s commitment to promoting cultural heritage, facilitating economic growth, and fostering sporting excellence across Assam.
