Guwahati, July 13: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) apprehended two persons involved in the illegal sale of railway tickets and recovered 25 railway e-tickets worth over Rs 64,000 in two separate operations conducted on July 8 and 9.
The apprehended persons were prosecuted under section 143 of the Railways Act. RPF also recovered 18 bottles of liquor during checking in the train on July 9.
On July 8, acting on a tip-off from RPF Cyber Cell Maligaon regarding touting of railway e-tickets, RPF teams of CIB/Katihar and RPF Post/Barsoi under supervision of IPF CIB/Katihar conducted a raid at Majrahi village (Katihar) and apprehended Najir Ahamed, 22. They recovered two mobile handsets, one laptop with charger, one dongle (instant pay), and one register regarding booking of railway e-ticket from his possession.
On thorough examination of the seized articles, 19 railway e-tickets valued at Rs 56,800.55 were detected, which were generated by using personal user IDs. On further interrogation, the accused person disclosed that he had used more than 37 personal user IDs and lots of mobile numbers to book Railway E-tickets for his personal gain. In this regard, a case has been registered at RPF Post, Barsoi under section 143 of the Railways Act.
Similarly on July 9, acting on information regarding touting activities by travel agency Satyam Internet Point in Nagaon, a decoy check was conducted by the CIB team of Lumding by sending one constable to purchase an e-ticket. The shopkeeper charged Rs 170 instead of the actual fare of Rs 121.8. Immediately, RPF teams of CIB/Lumding and RPF/Post/Chaparmukh under supervision of IPF/ Chaparmukh conducted a raid in the said shop with the help of local Police of Nagaon Sadar Police Station.

They apprehended Satyam Prakash Pandey, a resident of Nagaon, and recovered six railway e-tickets worth Rs 7,834.06 which were generated by using personal user IDs. In this regard, a case has been registered at RPF Post, Chaparmukh under section 143 of the Railways Act.
On the same day, while checking Train No. 05707 (Radhikapur – Katihar Passenger) at Katihar railway station, RPF staff recovered 18 bottles of liquor worth Rs 2,592 as unclaimed. Later, the recovered liquor was handed over to Excise/Katihar for further trainourse of action.
