Guwahati, April 10: More than 1 lakh students of Kamrup Area in Assam have taken part in a blending postcard campaign encouraging their guardians to work out their voting rights in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. They brought out a special activity aimed at reinforcing the voter turnout in their District.

The campaign was orchestrated by the Kamrup Election District as part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative under the banner of ‘Maa-Deutaloi Votdanor Ahbaan’, which means call for voters.

The primary objective was to achieve a 100% voter turnout for the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for May 7th in the district.

Hailing from about 526 instructive teachers over the locale, extending from Lesson VIII to Course XI, more than one lakh understudies energetically made sincere offers on postcards, imploring their guardians to cast their polls on decision day for their superior future, for the participative vote-based system, and the development of India.

Kamrup District Commissioner and District Election Officer, Keerthi Jalli, outlined the campaign’s ambitions, emphasising the need to galvanise electoral participation and fortify the democratic fabric.

Jalli added that he remembers writing letters to his friends as an assignment in school. It used to be an exercise all looked forward to.

Expressing confidence in the emotional impact generated by children, appealing directly to their parents as ‘we as adults are answerable to our future generations; on the state of the nation, we leave them as inheritance’ she quips.

The activity empowers understudies to select craftsmanship shapes to express their offer. Understudies have been given the celebrated yellow postcard from the Indian Postal Office.

These postcards have been stamped with the Kamrupa and Luit (dark softshell turtle) decision mascots of the Kamrup area.
