Quit India Movement

New Delhi, Aug 09: In a strategic move to counter the opposition’s INDIA bloc (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a nationwide campaign on the 81st anniversary of the Quit India Movement. Led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the campaign aims to underscore the party’s message against corruption, dynasty politics, and appeasement.

As the nation commemorates the historic Quit India Movement initiated by Mahatma Gandhi on August 9, 1942, the BJP seized the occasion to target the opposition. The prime minister has taken a strong stance against the naming of the opposition bloc as INDIA, citing examples like banned organizations Indian Mujahideen, Popular Front of India (PFI), and Student’s Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) as well as the British East India Company, all of which contained the word “India.”

PM Modi has consistently criticized the opposition, particularly the principal Congress party, for issues related to corruption, dynasty politics, and appeasement. In a recent tweet, he paid homage to the participants of the Quit India Movement and stated, “Today, India is saying in one voice: Corruption Quit India. Dynasty Quit India. Appeasement Quit India.”

The BJP’s education minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, echoed this sentiment by tweeting, “New India is saying in Amritkal. Corruption – Quit India. Nepotism – Quit India. Appeasement – Quit India. Every social evil – Quit India.”

Amit Malviya, the party’s social media head, actively engaged in the campaign by sharing tweets, cards, and video clips. He posted visuals that emphasized the message of quitting corruption, nepotism, and appeasement.

The prime minister has urged BJP MPs to promote the campaign in their respective constituencies. The party aims to amplify this message across the nation ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections to counter any political advantage the opposition’s INDIA bloc might gain from their chosen name.

Prime Minister Modi has consistently taken the opportunity to address the naming of the opposition alliance. During an event commemorating National Handloom Day on August 7, he reaffirmed the significance of August 9 as the day the Quit India Movement commenced. Modi highlighted the movement’s role in energizing India’s fight for independence and drew parallels with the ongoing campaign, “Quit India,” against corruption, dynasty, and appeasement.

The BJP’s strategic campaign reflects its commitment to promoting clean governance, meritocracy, and equal treatment for all citizens. By invoking the historical significance of the Quit India Movement and aligning it with the party’s campaign against corruption, dynasty politics, and appeasement, the BJP seeks to galvanize public sentiment and secure its position as India’s ruling party.

As the campaign gains momentum, the BJP aims to counter the narrative presented by the opposition’s INDIA bloc and reassert its dedication to a transparent, accountable, and inclusive governance model. The ongoing political discourse surrounding these key issues is expected to play a significant role in shaping the narrative leading up to the 2024 elections.
