Kolkata, March 06: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticized the BJP ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kolkata, accusing the party of attempting to tarnish the state’s reputation and arrest Trinamool leaders.

Banerjee expressed concerns about the Sandeshkhali unrest and the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, alleging that agencies were being directed by the BJP to arrest Trinamool leaders.

She emphasized the importance of fair elections and urged the BJP to focus on earning the trust of the people rather than resorting to manipulative tactics.

Banerjee highlighted instances of violence in other states and contrasted them with Bengal’s situation, asserting that Bengal is much better in terms of law and order.

She condemned the BJP’s attempts to incite violence, particularly against women, stating that it dishonored the women of Bengal and caused distress among them.
