Friday’s polling day was marred by gunfire, clashes, intimidation, and the destruction of EVMs at certain polling booths.

There were also allegations of booth capturing, particularly in conflict-affected Manipur. Despite these challenges, the voter turnout stood at 72 per cent across the two Lok Sabha constituencies – Inner Manipur and Outer Manipur.

Earlier, the Congress party had demanded repolling in 47 polling stations, citing instances of booth capturing and electoral rigging.

Manipur Congress president K Meghachandra stated that the party had complained to the Chief Electoral Officer, requesting repolling in 36 polling stations within the Inner Manipur constituency and 11 in the Outer Manipur constituency.
