Imphal, April 30: Repolling in the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha seat witnessed a voter turnout of 55.11% by 1 PM, with polling stations reporting brisk participation despite the earlier disruptions.
Election authorities confirmed that no untoward incidents had been reported thus far, attributing the smooth proceedings to stringent security measures. Commencing at 7 am, the voting process continued seamlessly amid heightened security arrangements.
The need for repolling arose due to incidents of vandalism where EVMs and VVPATs were damaged before the completion of voting at four polling stations on April 26.
Additionally, EVM malfunctioning and intimidation tactics by unidentified miscreants led to incomplete voting at two other polling stations.
