The marathon, aptly named “theastrun,” aimed to spotlight the alarming pace of Himalayan glacier melting, hinting that this might be the last run on the frozen Pangong lake due to global warming.

Simultaneously, it sought to boost winter tourism in regions like Changthang, as emphasized by the Chushul councillor.

Residents from Pangong areas, including Maan, Merak, Spangmik, and Phobrang, warmly welcomed and hosted the participants, adding to the cultural richness of the event with captivating performances.

Against the backdrop of heavy snowfall and temperatures plunging to -15°C, the marathon unfolded at an altitude of 14,273 ft, officially earning its reputation as one of the most challenging marathons worldwide.
