Mumbai, Jan 12: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has taken a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his visit to the Kalaram Temple in Nashik, Maharashtra.

Raut alleged that the Prime Minister’s decision to visit the temple was prompted by Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray’s announcement of his visit on January 22, coinciding with the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

PM Modi’s visit to Nashik was part of a day-long itinerary in Maharashtra, during which he inaugurated various developmental projects, including the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), the country’s longest sea bridge. The visit also preceded the inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22.

Raut claimed that there was no initial plan for PM Modi to visit the Kalaram Temple, but when Uddhav Thackeray declared his intention to go on the same day as the Ayodhya event, the BJP suggested that PM Modi should also visit.

Raut remarked that PM Modi’s visit was orchestrated to coincide with Thackeray’s participation in the aarti at Kalaram Temple.

In a sarcastic tone, Raut drew attention to the Prime Minister’s non-visit to Manipur, a state grappling with ethnic violence since May 3 of the previous year.

Raut disclosed that Shiv Sena (UBT) had contemplated a visit to a Ram temple in Manipur, implying that PM Modi might eventually follow suit.

Highlighting the plight of Manipur, where people have suffered casualties, property has been destroyed, and violence has persisted for over a year, Raut criticized the Prime Minister’s absence from the troubled region.

He proposed a solution by stating the presence of a small Ram temple in Manipur, indicating that Shiv Sena’s visit to offer prayers might prompt PM Modi to follow suit if Uddhav Thackeray expresses a similar intention.
