Tripura vote from home

Agartala, Feb 09: The physically challenged, senior citizens over 80 years and Covid-affected voters started exercising votes for the Tripura assembly under the ‘vote from home’ system. This category includes around 8,000 voters.

The Election Commission has made special arrangements for people living in Indian territory but outside the barbed wire fencing, to exercise their votes.

After casting the vote, the lady said that “I am very much satisfied that I couldn’t go outside to cast my vote. For years I used to go and cast my vote but this time I got the opportunity and cast vote from home. I am very much happy.”

Tripura shares an 856 km border with Bangladesh. There are people living in no man’s land. These people move through the gates created by BSF.

The personnel who is going home to attend to the people and conduct the process said that “This time ECI has taken a very good initiative so that all those elderly women or men who are above 80 years will be able to vote from home instead of going to the polling booth and also those who are physically challenged and want to vote can vote from their home. Here is I am going and conducting the process.”

Tripura CEO Gitte Kirankumar Dinkarrao said that the list of voters living outside the border fencing has been given to the BSF authorities.
