Imphal, April 26: The second phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 kicked off on Friday, April 26, encompassing 13 states and union territories, with 88 parliamentary constituencies in the fray, including five constituencies in Assam.

In a heartening display of civic duty, a 94-year-old woman from Ukhrul in Outer Manipur made her way to the polling booth early in the morning to cast her vote, symbolizing the unwavering commitment to democracy.

Concurrently, polling is underway for 13 assembly segments under the Outer Manipur seat.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X, urging constituents in the voting areas of the second phase to participate in large numbers, emphasizing the pivotal role of high voter turnout in strengthening democracy. He particularly encouraged young and female voters to exercise their franchise, underlining the significance of their voices in the electoral process.

Amidst the electoral fervor, Assam witnessed the establishment of 9,133 polling stations across five constituencies for the second phase of Lok Sabha polls.

Anurag Goel, the Chief Electoral Officer of Assam, assured that all necessary arrangements have been meticulously put in place for smooth conduct.

With an anticipated voter count of 77,09,276 across these polling stations, efforts are underway to ensure a seamless voting experience for all participants.
