Nagaland border

Kohima, April 21: The Assam-Nagaland border dispute has been a long-standing issue between the two states in India. However, the Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, has confirmed that both the Assam and Nagaland governments are making efforts to resolve the issue peacefully through negotiations outside the court of law.

CM Rio emphasized the importance of settling disputes outside of court and stated that the recent resolution of the Assam-Arunachal border issue through peaceful negotiations was an example of how disputes should be resolved.

He also mentioned that discussions with the Assam government have been focused on both border and development issues and that the two states should work together to move forward.

Furthermore, CM Rio revealed that the Nagaland government has agreed to sign an MoU with Assam to facilitate oil exploration in disputed areas. Once the MoU is signed, both states will be able to benefit from shared royalties, which could potentially lead to a significant increase in oil exploration activities in Nagaland.
