Shillong, April 19: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma arrived at the Walbakgre polling station in Tura promptly at 6:30 am to cast his vote, joining the queue alongside fellow citizens.

The commencement of voting for the first phase of the 18th Lok Sabha election has unfolded across 102 constituencies throughout India, beginning at 7 am and extending until 4 pm today.

Addressing the media, Conrad Sangma expressed his initial intention to cast his vote early, only to find a pleasant surprise awaiting him as he encountered a significant turnout of eager voters already assembled at the polling station.

Reflecting on the scene, CM Conrad Sangma remarked, “When I reached the polling station around 6:30 AM, there were around 200 people present at the polling station, which is a good message that people are participating in the voting process enthusiastically… A very good voter turnout can be seen in this election…”

Encouraging citizens to actively participate in the democratic process, he appealed to the populace to exercise their invaluable democratic rights by casting their votes.
