Shillong, April 19: Amidst the commencement of Lok Sabha Elections, a vibrant scene unfolds in Mawpen, Mawsynram, Meghalaya, as voters pour in substantial numbers to partake in the democratic process.

The kickoff of the Lok Sabha elections nationwide marks a significant juncture in India’s democratic trajectory.

In the serene locale of Mawpen, Mawsynram, the queues started forming as early as 6 am, showcasing the citizens’ enthusiasm to fulfil their civic obligations. This picturesque snapshot from Meghalaya encapsulates the fervor and commitment of voters as they eagerly await their turn to cast their ballots.

This electoral fervor extends across 21 states and Union Territories, spanning from Arunachal Pradesh to Puducherry.

With a total of 1.87 lakh polling stations established in these regions, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jammu and Kashmir, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry, the stage is set for citizens to exercise their voting rights.

The immense scale of participation is evident, with over 16.63 crore voters expected to cast their votes, comprising 8.4 crore men and 8.23 crore women.
