New Delhi, April 11: Prime Minister Modi recently convened with seven prominent Indian gaming creators, including Naman “Mortal” Mathur, Animesh “Thug” Agarwal, and Mithilesh “MythPat” Patankar, signaling the government’s commitment to the growth of the gaming industry in India.

The meeting, which aimed to chart the course of the Indian gaming sector and explore avenues for its development, underscored the significance of gaming as a cultural and economic force in the country.

With India boasting an impressive gaming population of between 450 and 550 million and the sector generating $3.1 billion in revenue in FY23, PM Modi’s engagement marks a pivotal moment for the industry’s trajectory.

Game developers participating in the meeting expressed optimism about the Prime Minister’s plans, believing that his vision could significantly impact gaming in India.

Animesh Agarwal and Mithilesh Patankar, known as 8bitThug and MythPat respectively, shared their excitement on Instagram, describing their conversation with PM Modi as indicative of forthcoming changes.

Naman “Mortal” Mathur, a prominent figure in the Indian gaming community renowned for his expertise in Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), stressed the importance of PM Modi’s backing for the gaming community.

Mortal, with a substantial YouTube following and co-ownership of iQOO Soul, commended PM Modi’s vision for the gaming landscape in India.

Similarly, Payal “Payal” Dhare, one of the leading female gamers in the country with over 3.63 million YouTube subscribers, expressed gratitude for participating in the discussion. Dhare praised PM Modi for acknowledging the voices of female gamers and advocating for inclusivity within the industry.

The meeting also featured Tirth Mehta, Ganesh “SkRossi” Gangadhar, and Anshu “GamerFleet” Bisht, each contributing unique perspectives and experiences to the discourse on the future of Indian gaming.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reassured the gaming creators of his administration’s unwavering support and commitment to fostering the gaming and esports ecosystem in India.
