Tripura MCC

1.  The Chief Electoral Officer in Tripura has responded to 15 Model Code of Conduct (MCC) violation complaints from parties since March 16.
2. Five government officials were suspended for involvement in MCC breaches.
3. Actions taken include inquiry and suspension upon verification of complaints.


Agartala, April 11: The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer in Tripura has been actively addressing violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), receiving 15 complaints from various political parties since its enforcement on March 16, 2024.

As a result, five government officials have been suspended for their involvement in MCC violations.

Chief Electoral Officer Puneet Agarwal, alongside West Parliamentary Returning Officer Vishal Kumar and others, inaugurated an Alpana Anushthan as part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation initiative.

Speaking with reporters, Puneet Agarwal emphasized the strict measures taken against MCC violators.

Agarwal explained the process of handling complaints, stating, “Whenever complaints are received against officials, we forward them to the respective Returning Officials and Assistant Returning Officials for inquiry. If the individual is found guilty, immediate action is taken.”

Since the implementation of the MCC, five government employees have faced suspension due to their association with political parties.

The CEO highlighted the channels through which complaints can be filed, including the C-vigil app, the National Grievance Service Portal, and physical submissions.

“We’ve received approximately 15 complaints regarding MCC violations. We promptly investigate any reports received, regardless of whether they are formal complaints or from media sources,” Agarwal added.

In addition to addressing MCC violations, the CEO disclosed that 84 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have been deployed in Tripura since April 1st.

These forces are engaged in various activities such as flag marches, area dominations, and mobile patrolling across different regions of the state
