New Delhi, March 22: Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the excise policy case.
Amidst this development, the AAP has swiftly moved the Supreme Court to challenge Kejriwal’s arrest and sought an urgent hearing.
The Enforcement Directorate’s team arrived at Kejriwal’s residence on Thursday for questioning in the liquor policy case, conducting a search operation at his residence.
This arrest comes after the Delhi High Court decided to deny interim protection to Kejriwal from coercive action in connection with the excise policy case.

AAP workers have gathered outside Kejriwal’s residence to protest against the arrest, denouncing it as a conspiracy.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann criticized the move, asserting that BJP’s attempts to suppress Kejriwal’s ideology would fail.

Similarly, Delhi Minister Imran Hussain labeled the arrest as unfortunate, branding it as a conspiracy to thwart the AAP and Kejriwal’s influence.
ED had summoned Kejriwal multiple times in the excise policy case, with the agency aiming to record his statement on various aspects related to the formulation of the policy and allegations of bribery.
Section 144 has been imposed outside Kejriwal’s residence, reflecting the heightened tensions surrounding the situation.
