New Delhi, Feb 16: The ongoing farmers’ protest has escalated into a nationwide ‘Bharat Bandh’, now entering its fourth day. In response to the lack of a breakthrough in talks with the Centre, several farmers’ unions have mobilized for a massive strike.

Delhi and its National Capital Region (NCR) have witnessed the imposition of Section 144, with gatherings banned as a precautionary measure.

Farmers’ Determination

Despite prolonged discussions, a five-hour meeting between farmers’ union leaders and three Union ministers failed to yield any breakthrough on Thursday. The farmers remain resolute in their demands, vowing to intensify their agitation. The Bharatiya Kisan Parishad, based in Noida, has joined forces with the farmers, extending its support to the nationwide strike.

‘Chakka Jam’ and Bharat Bandh

The Bharat Bandh commenced at 6 am and is slated to continue until 4 pm. During the strike, farmers plan to stage a massive ‘chakka jam’ across major Indian roads from 12 pm to 4 pm, amplifying their protest against recent agricultural reforms.
