Itanagar, April 21: During simultaneous assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Arunachal Pradesh on April 19, a polling official and a constable of the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRBn) succumbed to cardiac arrest, as confirmed by Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Pawan Kumar Sain.
Polling Officer Changdam Yangchang, stationed at Balupothar polling station in Bordumsa, Changlang district, passed away while being transported to a hospital after experiencing a heart attack during polling, stated CEO Pawan Kumar Sain.
Additionally, Passang Dondup, a constable in the fourth IRBn, tragically lost his life at Tamen in Kamle district while on naka duty.
Three other polling personnel also encountered cardiac arrests and have been hospitalized. S K Paul, a presiding officer in Upper Siang district, was admitted to a hospital in Dibrugarh, Assam, after experiencing a heart attack.
Meanwhile, Dinesh Kumar Panda, a central police force personnel from Odisha, suffered a heart attack during duty in Kurung Kumey district and is currently undergoing treatment at Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS).

Kesang Goiba, the returning officer of Rumgong in Siang district, is also receiving medical attention after suffering a heart attack.
The CEO announced that an ex-gratia payment of Rs 15 lakh will be provided to the next of kin of the deceased, with compensation for others according to the prescribed norms of the Election Commission.
Polling for simultaneous elections to two Lok Sabha seats and 50 assembly constituencies in Arunachal Pradesh occurred on Friday.
The CEO reported a 76.44 per cent turnout for assembly polls and a 76.37 per cent and 70.11 per cent turnout for the Lok Sabha polls in the East and West seats, respectively.
Furthermore, re-polling is anticipated in five polling stations, comprising four in Upper Subansiri and one in Kurung Kumey district, as per the CEO’s statements.
