Guwahati, April 21: In a troubling development, a police officer stationed at Basistha Police Station in Guwahati, Assam, fell victim to a brutal assault by miscreants following a confrontation at a local bar.

Initial reports indicate that the officer, identified as Pradeep Basumatary, responded to complaints from residents about recurring altercations and disturbances at the ECHO bar.

However, a verbal dispute escalated into a physical altercation between the officer and several individuals present at the establishment.

Subsequently, the miscreants subjected the officer to a vicious assault and even attempted to set him on fire by dousing him in diesel.

The incident, which transpired in the early hours of April 21, has reverberated throughout the community, shedding light on the perilous conditions faced by law enforcement officers in the line of duty.

Following the attack, authorities apprehended two individuals, including the bar owner, in connection with the assault.
