Varanasi, Jan 22: Due to the consecration ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, a special ‘Ganga Maha Aarti’ is scheduled to take place at Varanasi’s Dashashwamedh Ghat, the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The city is witnessing religious rituals at various temples, including the Kashi Vishwanath temple, where Vedic recitations have been ongoing since the morning.

In the Kashi Vishwanath temple complex, two LCD screens have been set up for spectators to witness the live telecast of the ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony.

Additionally, the Indian Music Arts Center is organizing a kathak performance and various other programs.

As night falls, the Kashi Vishwanath temple will be illuminated with lamps, creating a captivating display.

The Batuk Bhairav temple has been adorned with flowers, and 5,100 lamps will illuminate the complex during the recitation of Sundar Kand.

Jitendra Mohan Puri, the mahant of the Batuk Bhairav temple, mentioned that the Ganga Aarti in Varanasi is usually performed by seven Archakas, but due to the special occasion, it will be conducted by nine Archakas in the form of a Maha Aarti.

Following the Aarti, Ram Bhajans will be sung, and a Deepotsav will be arranged at the Dashashwamedh Ghat in the evening, with prasad distributed among the devotees, according to Sushant Mishra of the Ganga Seva Nidhi.

Boatmen are also offering free ferry services across the river.
