Ayodhya, Jan 22: The consecration ceremony at the newly erected Ram temple in Ayodhya was accompanied by the soul-stirring strains of “Mangal Dhwani,” resonating from 50 traditional musical instruments sourced from various corners of India.

Orchestrated by Ayodhya’s esteemed poet Yatindra Mishra, this musical extravaganza received backing from the Sangeet Natak Akademi in New Delhi.

The ensemble featured an array of instruments, including the pakhawaj, flute, and dholak from Uttar Pradesh, veena from Karnataka, algoja from Punjab, Sundari from Maharashtra, mardala from Odisha, santoor from Madhya Pradesh, pung from Manipur, nagada and kali from Assam, and tambura from Chhattisgarh.

The symphony continued with shehnai from Delhi, ravanahatha from Rajasthan, shrikhol, and sarod from West Bengal, ghatam from Andhra Pradesh, sitar from Jharkhand, santar from Gujarat, pakhawaj from Bihar, hudka from Uttarakhand, and nagaswaram, tavil, and mridangam from Tamil Nadu.

Before the enchanting “Mangal Dhwani,” renowned artists including Sonu Nigam, Anuradha Paudwal, and Shankar Mahadevan graced the occasion with devotional songs dedicated to Lord Ram.

A member of the temple trust expressed, “Immersed in devotion, the ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya was graced by the majestic ‘Mangal Dhwani.’ With 50 exquisite instruments from different states coming together for this auspicious occasion, this magnificent musical program represents a momentous occasion for every Indian, bringing together diverse traditions in celebration and honor of Shri Ram.”

The much-anticipated consecration ceremony at the Ram temple unfolded in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marking a significant milestone. The shrine is set to open its doors to the public the following day.

Amidst the musical festivities, the atmosphere was further charged during the aarti, where invitees participated while worship bells echoed through the air. Army helicopters showered flower petals over the temple premises, creating a surreal ambience.

Ayodhya’s streets resonated with devotional songs like ‘Ram Aayenge’ and ‘Awadh Mein Ram Aayen Hain,’ accompanied by saffron flags adorning buildings in the revamped temple town.

Music took center stage with the Lata Mangeshkar Chowk, featuring a 14-tonne ornate veena sculpture at its center, becoming a prime attraction for residents and tourists alike.

As Ayodhya immerses itself in religious fervor, the ‘Ayodhya Nagari’ has undergone a picturesque transformation, with Ram Path and Dharm Path exquisitely decorated to showcase the ‘Navya, Divya, and Bhavya Ayodhya’ vision coined by the government.

With the ‘pran pratishtha’ day approaching, households, temples, and buildings are already adorned with radiant lights, setting the stage for Ayodhya to dazzle in all its glory.

From community kitchens serving ‘langar’ food to various organizations contributing to the festive spirit, the holy city is gearing up to welcome devotees with open arms.
