Guwahati, Jan 23: Guwahati police are implementing traffic restrictions in anticipation of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Assam. The Congress-led yatra is scheduled for January 23, and the following traffic regulations will be in effect in Guwahati City.

The proposed route for the “Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra” by the Indian National Congress, led by Rahul Gandhi, on January 23 involves traveling through Guwahati via Jorabat-Khanapara-Basistha Chariali-Lakhara-Gorchuk-Jalukbari.

As a result, there is a potential for traffic congestion on NH-27 (National Highway 27) from Khanapara to Jalukbari.

To mitigate potential issues, Guwahati Traffic Police advises the public to avoid the stretch from Khanapara to Jalukbari Rotary on National Highway-27 on January 23, 2024, from 9 am to 4 pm. Commuters are encouraged to take the GS Road as an alternative.

Rahul Gandhi commenced his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, reaching Meghalaya on January 22, where he addressed a gathering in the Ri-bhoi district.

During his address, Gandhi discussed the rationale behind initiating the Nyay Yatra in Manipur, a region facing significant challenges.

He attributed the ongoing crisis in Manipur to the ideologies of the BJP and RSS, alleging that their politics of hatred and violence have torn the state apart, resulting in numerous casualties and extensive property damage.

“The reason is that the ideology of the RSS and BJP has destroyed the idea of Manipur. The politics of hatred and violence have torn the state apart, causing hundreds of deaths and thousands of people to lose their property. It’s a complete tragedy! That’s why we wanted to send a message to the rest of India about the pain the people of Manipur are feeling,” said Gandhi.
