1. On January 24, the last batch of 92 Myanmarese soldiers, who had sought refuge in Mizoram, India, were repatriated back to Myanmar.
2. The soldiers had landed at Mizoram’s Lengpui airport after a Myanmar military plane crash.
3. The soldiers, totaling 276, fled to India following the takeover of their camp during clashes with rebel groups.


Aizawl, Jan 25: On January 24, the last batch of 92 Myanmarese soldiers, who had sought refuge in Mizoram, India, were repatriated back to Myanmar.

The soldiers had landed at Mizoram’s Lengpui airport after a Myanmar military plane crash.

The soldiers, totaling 276, fled to India following the takeover of their camp during clashes with rebel groups.

They entered Bandukbanga village at the India-Myanmar-Bangladesh trijunction and sought assistance from the Assam Rifles.

The first group of 184 soldiers was sent back on Monday, and the remaining 92 were repatriated the following day.

This incident adds to the total of 635 Myanmarese soldiers who sought refuge in Mizoram since November 13th of the previous year, escaping the conflict between the Myanmar Army and various ethnic armed organizations, along with pro-democratic forces.
