Gangtok, Feb 21: Amid heavy snowfall in Sikkim, approximately 175 vehicles carrying over 500 tourists became stranded at Natu La, East Sikkim on February 21.

Responding swiftly, troops of the Trishakti Corps braved sub-zero temperatures to rescue and assist the stranded tourists.

The Indian Army ensured prompt medical aid, hot refreshments/meals, and safe transportation to help the tourists reach safer areas.

Trishakti Corps, while stationed in Sikkim for border security, remains committed to assisting the civil administration and the people in times of need.

In a similar gesture of assistance, CRPF jawans in Anantnag, Jammu & Kashmir, aided stranded vehicles amid heavy snowfall on February 20.

The region experienced showers and snowfall, resulting in road blockages, particularly along the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, due to landslides triggered by precipitation.

Sections of the highway, particularly in the Ramban district, were affected by landslides and rockfalls, leading to road closures at Dalwas, Mehad-Cafeteria, Ramban, Chamlwas, and Gangroo due to adverse weather conditions.
