Kolkata, April 18: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating violence during Ram Navami celebrations in Murshidabad district.

Banerjee claimed that the violence was pre-planned and suggested that the removal of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Murshidabad a day before the clashes was part of the scheme.

Banerjee further alleged that “BJP goons” roughed up police personnel in Murshidabad, adding weight to her accusations of orchestrated violence.

Opposition Response

Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal, placed the blame for the clash squarely on Mamata Banerjee.

Adhikari called for a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the incident, indicating the seriousness of the situation.

Adhikari claimed that Banerjee’s alleged provocative speech had triggered the violence during the Ram Navami procession.

BJP’s Counterclaims

Bengal BJP chief Sukanta Mazumdar countered Banerjee’s accusations, alleging that the peaceful procession was attacked by Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers.

Demand for Investigation

In light of the conflicting narratives and the severity of the clashes, demands for an NIA inquiry into the matter emerged from the BJP camp.
