Imphal, Feb 13: The eagerly anticipated meeting of the Privilege and Ethics Committee of the Manipur Legislative Assembly convened on February 13 at 11 AM.

Okram Joy, one of the petitioners who complained about 10 Kuki MLAs, participated in today’s meeting.

His attendance aimed to validate his complaint against the MLAs who had advocated for a separate administration, which he deemed unethical and unacceptable.

Joy, a seasoned politician, emphasized that the meeting aimed to establish the quorum of the committee.

The ultimate decision lies with the Manipur Legislative Assembly, which will deliberate on the submitted complaint report and determine the course of action against the 10 Kuki MLAs under rule 92.

The complaint petition was filed to safeguard the dignity of the Manipur Legislative Assembly and the integrity of Manipur, Joy asserted.

The populace has been urging the convening of the Privilege and Ethics Committee to address the issue of the 10 Kuki MLAs advocating for separate administration.

Ima gi Meira, a women’s organization, has also been demanding the convening of this committee.

The Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly recently assured that the meeting would be held before February 14.
