Imphal, Feb 25: The Manipur government has vehemently denied rumors suggesting delays in distributing relief materials to all the relief camps across the state amid the ongoing conflict and violence.

In response to the disturbing incident on February 15, where a furious mob vandalized and set fire to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Superintendent of Police (SP) offices in Churachandpur, the government has condemned the act.

Twelve trucks and buses parked at the office complex, two of which carried relief materials for the Churachandpur District, were also destroyed.

Additionally, the DC’s official residence was torched, and even the national flag was reportedly disrespected.

Tragically, two individuals lost their lives during this incident, while one security forces personnel sustained injuries.

Despite the challenges posed by such volatile circumstances, the government has remained dedicated to supporting displaced persons. Various welfare measures have been initiated with support from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The government has refuted claims of delaying the distribution of relief materials, emphasizing that all necessary supplies are being provided promptly.

However, the destruction of the DC’s office, including vital official records and documents, has created obstacles in the relief efforts.

Efforts are underway to reconstruct the damaged documents, and the government is committed to ensuring uninterrupted relief operations for all affected individuals.

An appeal has been made to support the District Administration’s efforts to aid displaced persons.
