Imphal, March 22: The Manipur police recently made a significant breakthrough in their fight against drug trafficking, with the arrest of two individuals from Moreh, Tongkhohao Haokip, 44, and Jamkholun Baite, 48.
The arrests took place in Canan Veng Village, Moreh, where the duo was found to be in illegal possession of contraband drugs.
Among the seized items were nine large packets and one open packet containing suspected WY tablets, with an estimated weight of 11.740 kilograms, equivalent to approximately 80,000 tablets.
Additionally, authorities confiscated two mobile phones, Rs 400 in cash, and an auto-rickshaw from the suspects.
The case is currently under investigation, indicating law enforcement’s commitment to cracking down on drug-related crimes in the region.

Simultaneously, security forces have intensified search operations and area domination activities in the fringe and vulnerable areas of both hill and valley districts.
These efforts aim to curb illegal activities and maintain law and order across Manipur.
Ensuring the smooth transportation of essential goods, security personnel have facilitated the movement of 219 vehicles along NH-37 and 255 vehicles along NH-2.
Stringent security measures have been implemented in vulnerable locations, with security convoys deployed in sensitive areas to safeguard vehicle movements.
Furthermore, a total of 128 Nakas/Checkpoints have been set up across different districts of Manipur, both in hill and valley regions.
These checkpoints have resulted in the detention of 313 individuals suspected of various violations, demonstrating the authorities’ proactive approach to maintaining peace and security in the state.
