Shillong, Dec 11: The Meghalaya High Court has ordered the Assam government to file an affidavit within a week’s time on the preliminary inquiry into the allegation that illegally mined coal in the State is being smuggled out of the state by obtaining forged and fabricated papers in Assam.

Hearing the problem on Friday, a Division Bench headed with the aid of using Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee said, “Since the State of Assam seeks similarly time to report its affidavit, the time for such cause is prolonged with the aid of using every week from the date.”

The bench published the problem for the following listening to on February 2, at once after the vacation.

On October 19, the High Court requested the Assam government to report a testimony after allegations have been made with the aid of using petitioners – Champer M Sangma and Maikel T Sangma – of their PILs that coal illegally mined in Meghalaya smuggled out to Assam and re-routed to the country, sometimes for ultimate export to Bangladesh, with the aid of using acquiring solid and fabricated papers in Assam.
