Itanagar, April 05: The National People’s Party (NPP) in Meghalaya has firmly denied any association with a vehicle seized in Arunachal Pradesh containing cash worth Rs 1 crore, amidst allegations surfacing ahead of the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
On April 4, 2024, during NPP National President Conrad K. Sangma’s visit to Longding, Arunachal Pradesh, for campaigning, an incident occurred involving a vehicle purportedly trailing Sangma’s convoy and linked to the cash recovery.
However, the NPP has refuted these claims, asserting that the vehicle in question was not part of their convoy.
The Longding area SP has officially certified this fact, supporting the party’s stance.

In a press statement, the NPP emphasized that their convoy, including Sangma’s vehicle, underwent standard security checks as per election code of conduct protocols.
These checks, conducted at the Kanubari check gate by the FST, SST, and police, revealed no irregularities.
The security procedures covered the vehicles of the National President, National General Secretary, and the accompanying team.
The party asserts that it remained unaware of the incident until it surfaced in the media.
The NPP has labeled attempts to link the incident with their National President as baseless and without merit, emphasizing their commitment to the electoral process and adherence to legal protocols.
