Gangtok, April 05: In Gangtok, a critical issue looms large, threatening the livelihoods of its residents: a severe water crisis. Ahead of the 2024 elections, Pema Wangyal Rinzing, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate for the Gangtok Constituency, has pledged to address this pressing concern head-on.

During a recent visit to the area, Rinzing voiced deep concern over the dire situation faced by locals, questioning whether the water from the Himalayas has run dry.

He highlighted the longstanding nature of the crisis, attributing it to inadequate management that has left many households deprived of this essential resource, while commercial establishments like malls and hotels seem to enjoy uninterrupted supply.

Expressing remorse at the suffering endured by residents, Rinzing emphasized the urgent need for reform in the water management system not just in Gangtok but across Sikkim.

He committed to leveraging the expertise of top technicians from India and abroad to implement effective solutions, advocating for the establishment of a secondary water supply system to ensure universal access to clean water.
