Itanagar, June 13: Pema Khandu was sworn in today for his third term as Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister, following BJP’s decisive victory in the recent state elections.
Arunachal Pradesh Governor KT Parnaik administered the oath to Khandu and eleven other cabinet members at a ceremony in Itanagar.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, along with ministers JP Nadda, Kiren Rijiju, and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, graced the occasion.
Chowna Mein will serve as Deputy Chief Minister in the new cabinet, alongside Biyuram Waghe, Nyato Dukam, Ganriel Denwang Wangsu, Wanki Lowang, Pasang Dorjee Sona, Mama Natung, Dasanglu Pul, Balo Raja, Kento Jini, and Ojing Tasing.
Dasanglu Pul, wife of late Chief Minister Kalikho Pul, becomes Arunachal Pradesh’s first woman minister in decades.

The BJP’s landslide victory secured 46 out of 60 seats in the Arunachal Assembly, consolidating Khandu’s leadership. Initially a Congress leader, Khandu assumed office in 2016 after replacing Nabam Tuki.
He later orchestrated a political shift when 43 MLAs, under his leadership, joined the BJP ally, People’s Party of Arunachal.
Overcoming political challenges, he demonstrated majority support in the Assembly after 33 PPA lawmakers aligned with BJP.
Reflecting on the electoral mandate, Khandu expressed gratitude to the people of Arunachal Pradesh and underscored his commitment to PM Narendra Modi’s vision and inclusive development.
He affirmed his dedication to building a self-reliant Arunachal Pradesh and vowed to uphold the state’s progress under all circumstances.
