New Delhi, Feb 13: Ahead of the ‘Delhi Chalo’ march by farmers from Punjab, Haryana, and Western Uttar Pradesh on February 13, security measures in and around Delhi have been significantly heightened.

To prevent the entry of protesting farmers into the national capital, authorities have fortified the borders with concrete blocks, barbed wires, and road spike barriers.

The Delhi Police has enforced Section 144 across the city, banning rallies, processions, and road blockages until March 12.

Traffic restrictions have been implemented at key border points like Singhu, Ghazipur, and Tikri, reinforced with iron nails and barricades to deter protester vehicles.

Amid concerns of potential unrest, mobile internet services have been suspended in several Haryana districts, and borders with Punjab have been sealed by both Haryana and Rajasthan governments.

The Delhi Traffic Police have advised alternative routes to commuters to avoid congestion at the Gazipur border area.

The ‘Farmers Protest 2.0’ continues with demands including a legally bound Minimum Support Price Law and justice for victims of the Lakhimpur Kheri violence.

With elections approaching, farmers are also calling for a national strike on Friday, emphasizing the significance of the government’s response in the pre-poll period.

The central government has invited farmer leaders for talks to address their concerns and seek a resolution to the ongoing agitation.
