1. CAP accuses SKM and SDF of accepting illegal electoral bonds.
2. SKM and SDF allegedly cashed in electoral bonds despite the Supreme Court ruling.
3. Gurung reveals findings in a press conference, raising concerns over electoral transparency.

Gangtok, March 16: The Citizen Action Party (CAP) has raised serious allegations against both the ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) party and the opposition Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), accusing them of accepting and using illegal electoral bonds.

In a press conference held today, CAP spokesperson Albert Gurung disclosed that both SKM and SDF have allegedly cashed in electoral bonds on multiple occasions, despite the Supreme Court’s ruling declaring these bonds illegal.

According to Gurung, SKM is reported to possess electoral bonds worth a substantial 35.5 crore rupees, while SDF holds bonds amounting to 5.5 crore rupees.

Gurung criticized the ruling SKM party, alleging hypocrisy in their advocacy for a vision of “Sunaulo Sikkim” (Golden Sikkim) while purportedly resorting to illegal means of funding.

Similarly, he condemned the SDF party, accusing them of deceiving the public with promises to “Save Sikkim” while allegedly relying on external and unlawful sources of finance.

In stark contrast, Gurung underscored CAP’s commitment to transparent funding through crowd-sourcing. He emphasized that CAP refrains from accepting funds from external sources, unlike their counterparts in SKM and SDF.

These accusations by CAP have sparked controversy and raised questions about the integrity of electoral funding practices within Sikkim’s political landscape.

As the allegations unfold, there is growing anticipation for responses from both SKM and SDF regarding the purported acceptance and utilization of illegal electoral bonds.
