Gangtok, June 28: The Sikkim Police conducted raids at the residences and offices of five senior officials of the State Bank of Sikkim in Gangtok, Pakyong, Jorethang, and Sombaria in connection with a bribery case.

During these raids, a significant amount of incriminating documents were seized.

Following source inputs, the Gangtok vigilance department personnel carried out the raids and registered First Information Reports (FIRs) against the five senior officials.

According to a press release, the arrests were made on allegations that the officials received substantial bribes from various customers, credited to their bank accounts.

One accused official allegedly received more than one crore in bribes from multiple customers.

The accused officials reportedly demanded and accepted bribes by instructing customers to transfer the amounts to their respective bank accounts periodically.

Documents related to the acquisition of movable and immovable assets, as well as cash in lakhs, were also recovered during the raids.

The operation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
