1. The District Commissioner of Sonitpur, also the Returning Officer for 11-Sonitpur HPC, issued inspection letters.
2. Gana Suraksha party candidate Rinku Roy and independent candidate Pradip Bhandari received the letters.
3. The letters were sent on April 7, 2024, in preparation for the upcoming General Election to Lok Sabha 2024.


Guwahati, April 09: The District Commissioner of Sonitpur, also serving as the Returning Officer of 11-Sonitpur HPC, issued letters.

These letters were regarding the inspection of Election Expenditure Registers.

They were directed to Gana Suraksha party candidate Rinku Roy and Independent candidate Pradip Bhandari, both contesting from 11-Sonitpur HPC for the upcoming General Election to Lok Sabha 2024.

As per the letter, both contesting candidates had failed to produce the Election Expenditure Registers before the Expenditure Observer/Assistant Expenditure Observer for the inspection held on April 6.

Therefore they are directed to produce the mentioned documents by April 9 for inspection by the Expenditure Observer.

Being unable to produce election expenditure Registers has raised concerns amongst the election officials regarding transparency and adherence to the guidelines of the election expenditure.

The registers are essential for regulating and monitoring the expenses of the campaign ensuring compliance with legal limits and fostering fairness in the process of election

To maintain transparency and accountability among candidates, submission of election expenditures for inspection is a very important step.
