Agartala, April 01: Severe damage struck Tripura as heavy rain and storms battered the state, leaving over 616 houses in ruins.
According to the State Emergency Operation Center in Agartala, 37 houses were destroyed, while 125 suffered severe damage, and 454 were partially affected.
The impact was particularly severe in Sepahijala District, where 392 houses bore the brunt of the storm. Jampuijala Sub-division saw 23 houses damaged, Sonamura Sub-division reported 14, and Bishalgarh Sub-division accounted for 355 affected houses.

Beyond Sepahijala, Unakoti District recorded damage to 14 houses, with 124 houses affected in Dhalai District, 21 in West District, 33 in Khowai, 24 in Gomati, and only 8 in South District.
The aftermath included uprooted trees, damaged electricity poles causing power outages, road blockages, and vehicle damage due to fallen debris. Efforts to restore normalcy are underway, with authorities swiftly clearing obstacles.
