Education Minister

Guwahati, July 14: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu recently highlighted the significance of social media beyond just entertainment, emphasizing its role as a hub for information. Pegu stressed that social media is not limited to entertainment and reels but has evolved into a platform where people gather information from around the world.

However, many prominent colleges and universities in Assam remain inactive on social media, with some lacking an online presence altogether. As a result, the developmental activities taking place within these institutions often go unnoticed.

In light of this, the Education Minister urged all colleges and universities in Assam to establish social media accounts and regularly post updates about their activities. By doing so, the institutions can ensure that others are aware of the progress and initiatives taking place within their premises.

Pegu pointed out that educational bodies like the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) already have a significant presence on social media. Important information and updates are disseminated through these platforms, making it crucial for educational institutions to actively participate and share their own valuable insights.

By being active on social media, colleges, and universities can not only receive important information but also contribute to the educational discourse by sharing their own experiences, achievements, and initiatives. This will create a more connected and informed educational community, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.

In an increasingly digital age, social media has emerged as a powerful tool that can enhance the reach and impact of educational institutions. It provides a platform to showcase their contributions, attract prospective students, and engage with a wider audience. Moreover, it allows students, faculty, and staff to stay updated on the latest developments, events, and opportunities within the institution.

As Assam’s education sector progresses, leveraging the potential of social media can be instrumental in raising awareness, promoting educational initiatives, and fostering a vibrant learning ecosystem. The call to action from the Education Minister serves as a reminder for colleges and universities to embrace the power of social media and actively participate in the digital landscape to enhance transparency, communication, and collaboration within the educational community.
