Tezpur, July 14: A shocking incident unfolded in Tezpur, Assam, where a sub-inspector allegedly requested an “obscene” photo from a girl via WhatsApp. The incident came to light when the girl confronted the police officer publicly, leading to a remarkable turn of events where the officer was made to kneel and apologize in front of the public.

In a video that has since gone viral, the sub-inspector can be seen kneeling in front of the public while the girl demands an apology from him. The incident occurred after the sub-inspector allegedly praised the girl’s profile picture, commonly known as a ‘dp’ or display picture, on WhatsApp. The next day, he reportedly made an inappropriate demand for explicit photos.

The sub-inspector involved has been identified as Lohit, but his full name has not been disclosed at this time.

Responding to the incident, Assam Police Director General of Police (DGP), GP Singh, stated, “As I’ve always maintained, any such deviant behavior of an individual would attract severe departmental repercussions. I’ve called for a swift inquiry before taking appropriate action.”
